Dr. Marisa Tieger is an experienced vitreoretinal surgeon and clinician, and currently serves as a member of the Retina faculty and as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine. In her practice, she focuses on both medical and surgical retinal pathology. Dr. Tieger attended Tufts University School of Medicine and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Following medical school, Dr. Tieger completed her intern year at Newton Wellesley Hospital where she earned the honor of outstanding performance on the inpatient medicine service. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, where she also served as the Chief Resident and Director of the Ocular Trauma Service in 2020. She remained at MEE to complete her Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship and during her tenure was awarded the Madden Fellowship.
Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Tieger earned her Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from Syracuse University, where she was a member of the Division 1 Syracuse Women’s Basketball team. Her current areas of research interests include clinical outcomes in ocular trauma and endophthalmitis.
