Emily M. Zepeda, MD, grew up always wanting to be a doctor. Her father, a physician, served as a role model for her work but her mother, an elementary school teacher inspired her to work with children. This led her to pursue a dream career in pediatric ophthalmology.
She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and subsequently medical school at The Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in her hometown of Chicago. Dr. Zepeda’s residency took her to the Pacific Northwest where she completed her intern year and ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. She finally completed her training as a fellow in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Michigan. Determined to work with underserved populations and experience living in a different part of the country, she started practice as a pediatric ophthalmologist at the University of Oklahoma. Eventually wanting to settle down and find a place to truly call “home”, Dr. Zepeda and her family moved to the exciting Boston area.
She is thrilled to be a part of Newton Wellesley Eye Associates providing eye care to the children of New England. In her spare time she enjoys painting, cycling, flying around with her pilot husband and watching her kids grow.
